Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts (Electronics) I bought this sub with a PRS-D1200M amp for Christmas. When I put them in my car all I did was unhook the old pioneer system, take the sub out of the box, then implant the new sub, and hook everything up. The result? The cone barely moved even with everything turned up. Very disappointing. Since there are no 'real' sound shops and everyone I know has SVC subs, I unhooked everything, packed it all up, and put the old system back in.While surfing [...], I found out that I had wired the sub wrong, it was only getting about 100 to 200 watts. So I got everything back out and hooked it back up and it did hit hard. But wait...it sounds like crap. It's all muffled. You could actually hear and tell that the box was way too small and that there was no room for the air to move. Having already built a box, I knew what I needed. All I really had to do was define the dimensions and fine tune the inner volume, then build away. I bought a sheet of MDF, silicone, wood glue, cut some PVC... Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts (Electronics) I purchased two of these Pioneer TS-W3002D2 12 inch Champion Series PRO Subwoofers in April of 2011. I had a box already made for two other kind of subs so I just cut the outer mounting holes so I could fit them flush into the box. The box size was accurate for these subs so I ported the box to the manufacturers requirements, so I ran the subs at 2 ohms with roughly under 900 watts rms to each. They sounded fantastic for that low of power. I couldn't believe the low end on these. They were supposed to be a gift to my nephew but I needed to finish burning them in. The next day I was about ten minutes into burning them in with a pink noise track at a decent level of noise when I heard the volume lower considerably. So I turned them off and I checked my db meter and amps to see what went wrong, they record audio output through my laptop; I couldn't find any reason for the problem. Champion Series PRO Subwoofer with 3500 Watts (Electronics) I purchased these subs to replace a pair of Polk DB1222 that I had and blew one speaker in the pair. Originally I put both in the same box the polks were in and WOW! These subs sound so much better than the polks. It's like using a surefire flashlight after getting using a regular mag-light. The 2 subs were too much in the ported box so I put one in a sealed box running on 1500w RMS and it sounds great. Still louder than the 2 polks and I have had no problems pushing the high wattage to this sub. Great driver for the money and it will handle the power it says it will. Pioneer also makes a grill specifically for these speakers that fits nicely and protects your investment. I would definitely buy this sub again and would recommend it for anyone who wants a good sub on a budget. |
