I grabbed one of these off Amazon with the Alpine MRP-M500 Mono Amp and a ported enclosure. Let me just say... sweet jesus. Where do I start?

The installation was easy for me as I was using this set up to replace some much weaker Pioneer equipment in a sealed enclosure. While I may have doubled the wattage in doing this, it seems like I improved the listening experience by ten-fold. I have the gain below nominal and the bass boost just above zero and it's putting more bass in my car than is probably healthy. I have the bass equalizer on my headunit at -1 and it even gives my sideview mirrors a nice shake.

Why anybody would want two of these is beyond me. I have this on some of its lowest settings because if I put it any higher, I wouldn't be able to tell you what song my speakers were playing. If I mounted this subwoofer face down, I would take even money that my rear wheels would come off the ground when the sub hit. Hits so clean, doesn't distort, and plays an... Read more

I used to listen to loud music in my youth but as I approach 50 (within 2 years) I have decreased my loud-listening sessions. I purchased this to replaced two Polk DXi 112 enclosures (burn out prone) that fried at moderate listening levels.

I have a Rockford Fosgate P3D412 (w/ Rockford R500 Prime amp at 2 Ohms) and Atrend slotted enclosure in my other car and it hits HARD! I finally got this sub mounted in a Scosche SEV12CC 12-Inch Slot Ported enclosure and I was impressed with the heft and quality of construction. The Scosche box does not have the good grade of carpeting of the Atrend box but the contruction of the box is equally robust.

I have a Alpine MRP-500 pushing this sub - WOW! This combination hits hard, so hard I found the limitations of my 20 plus years of listening to loud rap, soul, rock, jazz, classic, etc. The bass is smooth and thumps very hard. I purchased this sub along with a ported enclosure (the Atrend Bbox enclosure sold here) and a JBL 700 watt RMS amp (the GTO7001, also sold here), to put in the trunk of my Maxima. The combination is a replacement for an Infinity Basslink, which has a 10" sub with a 200 watt RMS amp in a radiator-style enclosure. I've had a few weeks to experiment with it now, and here are the results:

I have the amp's gain set to just slightly over the minimum audible level, the boost on the amp is set to about +2db (out of +12 max.), and the bass boost in my car stays at 0. In other words, I've put a conscious effort into minimizing the bass coming from the sub. Why? Because when I play a really bass-heavy song, even at low volumes, the sub pounds even at these minimized levels. When I turn the overall volume up, visibility through my rear-view mirror is touch and go, the seats all vibrate with the beats, I can feel the hits in my chest, and on the really bass-y songs at higher...
